We are really happy to write this post for all the people who like and appreciate the good food combined with the good taste in clothing. And we have to say that there are many kinds of restaurants, large and small, in big cities or in small towns, expensive or cheap, but only an exclusive group of them may be in this group.
In the night of April 28, the elite of the culinary world presented in London the 2014 World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, organized by the British “Restaurant Magazine”. It released the list of the best restaurants in the world. The gala, also called the Oscars of the food, was followed throughout all the restaurant industry. It has a jury formed by over 900 cooks and food analysts who have decided the list of the top 50 restaurants in the world from their own personal experience, as they have to vote for, at least, seven restaurants they have eaten in the current year.
The event was held in a large hall of the medieval Guildhall building, a historic building completed in the mid-fifteenth century in the heart of “The City”. This selected list of 50 restaurants has been made from any restaurant we can find that has received the unexpected and unknown visits of the more than 900 members of the jury where they ate and drew up a verdict. Based on these results they have made the list of top 50.
In this post we will focus on the ceremony and on the top 5 restaurants in the prestigious list. Restaurants where art is expressed in dishes, genuine dining experiences that only the best chefs in the world can cook and that doesn’t leave anyone indifferent. The service received reaches the excellence, so much so that many of these restaurants have a capacity of 45 persons and has a team of 52 professionals. This feature is summarized in that the treatment is completely personalized.
Restaurants where the waiting list to enjoy the experience can be up to 12 months. In 1 year they have the whole restaurant full! So put on your best suits and dresses, we begin our tour. The gala began at 8pm. All attendees were arriving, and they fell on the photocall, wearing their best tailored suits and ready to enjoy a great gala. The main awards were expected, but well into the night they revealed that the best restaurant in the world 2014, was again the Noma Restaurant in Copenhagen.
- Noma Copenhagen
The best restaurant in the world in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014. With 2 Michelin Stars.
It’s placed in an old cellar in the centre of Copenhagen. The name means “Nordic Food”, therefore it is not difficult to understand that the basis of their food is composed by local lately fashionable ingredients such as fruits, vegetables, beers … but made cooked in a very modern style.
This elegant restaurant has only one black point. In March 2013, more than 60 people were infected for 5 days due to norovirus. This misfortune took them to loose the award for the best restaurant in the world in 2013, which was enjoyed by the luxurious restaurant Celler de Can Roca.
René Redzepi is the chef and co-owner of the restaurant, and he was formed in Bulli School by Ferran Adrià.
Prices, to be the best restaurant in the world, are also not as expensive, not for go every day, but to try once in a life…. The most exclusive menu is the Nassaaq Noma, a tasting menu of 12 dishes plus 12 glasses of wine for 340 €, the approximate time enjoying these is more or less 4 hours.
2. El Celler de Can Roca.
It has been ousted from the first position, El Celler de Can Roca (3 Michelin stars), was opened in August 1986, located in Girona (Catalonia), is managed by the Roca family, with the three brothers as the most representatives, Joan, Josep and Jordi.
They do not have a much defined style, get used to go it alone, but always following the creative vanguard. A highly linked to academicism restaurant, maintaining an absolute contact with the researchers and producers. For this reason it may be one of the most creative restaurants in the world.
Prices are located slightly below the Noma, the menu of 9 dishes and two desserts for 165€ (excluding drinks approx.150€).
The truth is that all the “reviews” I’ve seen from this restaurant are really impressive, if anyone has the chance to enjoy this experience, do not hesitate! Although if you just want to lunch or dinner in weekend will have to make reservations 1 year in advance.
To be honest I’m getting hungry every time I watch this pictures.
3. Osteria Francescana. Italy.
The Osteria (with 2 Michelin Stars), is located in the center of Modena, as you know if you was lucky to visit it, Modena is a small village with so much charm.
It is a restaurant that maybe, at first glance may not seem like much, because in relation to the expectations with the local can be quite high.
Its chef, Massimo Bottura born in the same Modena, is an alchemist chef, with a combined training between Italian regional cuisine and classic French cuisine, and arriving to work in the Louis XV in Monte Carlo, one of the best restaurants in the luxurious principality of Monaco, has managed creative cuisine printing his childhood memories and challenging the diners to know what is happening within their palates, the seriousness in his work has taken him to manage the 3rd best restaurant in the world.
The most selected menu, amounts to 190 € plus 140 € for the drinks.
4. Eleven Madison Park, United States of America.
Here comes the first restaurant of the new world, located in the heart of the magical city of skyscrapers, New York. In the emblematic Madison building built in the 30s.
A restaurant with a contemporary style, blending perfectly such opposite concepts as creativity and tradition, but always with the maximum of work with high quality products, buying all the foods to the best farms and establishments of America, just so, they can get the quality they have is their creations.
One of their popular dishes is the fried octopus with chorizo accompanied by caramelized onions and lobster cooked in butter.
The menu prices are located around 225USD. /Person.
5. Dinner by Heston Blumenthal London.
The restaurant is located inside the Mandarin Hotel Hyde Park in London, opened in January 2011, got his first star one year after opening and placed within the Top 10 of the best restaurants in the world with a menu inspired by the story the English culinary arts, currently enjoys 2 Michelin stars ..
Managed by one of the most famous Chefs in the world, Heston Blumenthal, who with Chef Ferran Adrià is the most commonly tops the list of world’s best chefs. He is also owner of The Fat Duck, famous Michelin 3 star restaurants located in Berkshire.
It is certainly the flagship of England. The price of the card is in a letter from 60 €, ranking in the average price of these restaurants.
The truth is that with any of the restaurants that make this exclusive list, could spend time and hardly repeatable experiences.
Here we can find the best creations in many occasions, applying available technology to create new flavors or textures so far unknown. They are true works of art expressed in dishes with prohibitive prices, yes, but to be the best restaurants in the world, either they believe they are as prohibitive as prices for anyone to enjoy at least once to life their best clothes.
I hope this post has been helpful, if you are lucky to be able to choose between one of the best restaurants in the world, to choose between one of these select locations or just to enjoy these works of art from different parts of the world where to eat the best creations by the most prestigious chefs in the world.
Take this opportunity to send them a greeting and not hesitate to comment that do you think about the experience, if any of you have been lucky enough to visit one of these restaurants.
Until next POST!
